Please join me in congratulating of GRG collaborator Paulo Cetto on the publication of his very interesting paper in the journal Marine Geology.
Cetto, P.H., Bastos, A.C., Menandro, P.S., Webster, J. M., MWP-1C and Reef Drowning: morphological evidence along the eastern Brazilian margin. Marine Geology 469. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.margeo.2024.107243
The paper present a comprehensive analysis of morphological data from the Abrolhos shelf on the eastern Brazilian margin.
Highlights
• Reef depth frequency analysis indicated two distinct reef morphology groups.
• Reef morphology and depth signatures allow interpretation of sea-level rise processes.
• Reef drowning at 20 m depth evidences the influence of MWP-1C in the South Atlantic.
• Low-relief reef banks with flattened tops around 30 m depth were interpreted as relict features.
• Regional morphology reveals the potential influence of MWP-1C in the east-southeast Brazilian shelf.
The study is part of a wonderful, ongoing collaboration between the GRG and Professor Alex Basto’s marine geology & geophysics group (Laboratório de Oceanografia Geológica – LaboGeo) at Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, Vitoria, Brazil.
Bravo Paulo and Alex!
Cheers
Jody
