On Monday, we held the 5th USYD(GRG)/Uni. of Tokyo Geo* workshop which was a great success. This year we did things a little bit differently with the morning focused on interesting talks covering various topics in coral reefs, coastal science, and paleoenvironmental reconstructions. Then after a tour of the University, the Schools labs and research facilities we divided the visting Uni. Tokyo students into two groups for the afternoon session. The earth scientists participated in a fossil coral reef logging workshop in the GeoReef Lab while the social scientists participated a very lively and fascinating seminar series starring some of the Schools human geographers.
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the entire GRG team and the Schools human geographers (Neil Coe, Bob Fisher, Sophie Webber, Rebecca Hamilton, John Connell, Josh Cinner and Shiori Shakuto from Social Sciences) who generously shared their time and research insights. I would also like to give a special shoutout to Claire Reymond, Harriet Harper and Ratneel Deo for their assistance in organizing the event and helping out in the GeoReef lab.
Thank you all, and cheers to a fantastic day!
Cheers
Jody
