My scientific interests focus on historical, present, and future dynamics of marine calcifying organisms. This includes studying the influence of climate change on large benthic foraminifera and the function of ocean acidification in marine policy.

Highlights of my career include being:

  • selected as an Australian Biological Resources Study (ABRS) scholar
  • the chief sedimentologist on the RV Meteor in the North Atlantic
  • the lead guest editor of a special issue on Large Benthic Foraminifera for the Journal of Earth Science
  • a member of the EU working group on Ocean Governance for Sustainability
  • collaborating with international researchers to build climate controlled experimental aquatic systems
  • a teacher, supervisor, and mentor for undergrad and post students
  • a scientific advocate for community engagement events.

With a bachelor’s degree in Conservation and Biodiversity, from Macquarie University, a PhD in Marine Palaeoecology from the University of Queensland, and six years of interdisciplinary post-doctorate experience working at the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT), Germany, I bring unique national and International experience as a carbonate sedimentologist to the GeoCoastal Research Group.
