Our latest paper on using Mg/Ca and Sr/Ca as geochemical proxies for understanding sediment transport processes within coral reefs is in press. This paper is based on Jordan Gacutan’s honours thesis and we are really pleased to see it published. It shows how geochemical ratios on large benthic foraminifera is a good indicator of taphonomy and sediment transport. The main advantage is not only avoiding long hours in the microscope but being able of determining sediment transport paths even when formainifera abundance is low.
