GRG PhD student Kelsey Sanborn had a great time Skyping a 4th grade class in Hong Kong yesterday, as part of the Skype a Scientist initiative. We spoke from the core lab where we had a look at different fossil coral samples from the Great Barrier Reef. The students had many enthusiastic questions about fieldwork, sample collection, how coral reefs grow, how we find fossil reefs, and how learning from the past helps understand future climate change. Would definitely recommend other scientists check out this really rewarding program!
