From little things big things grow : Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) analysis with Wenona School.

As part of an ongoing Science/STEM collaboration between the GRG and Wenona, I was lucky enough to spend last Friday playing with a new “desktop” scanning electron microscope (SEM) system they are trialing. It was great fun to talk to the students about some of the research we are doing and show them the beauty of carbonates (corals, green algae (Halimeda) and large benthic foraminifera) from the NW and NE Australian margins at the microscale.

These and future observations will be part of several ongoing GRG research projects while also providing teaching and outreach opportunities with Wenona.

Cheers
